The Chaos Boys are Back!

Here we go again with another fun season of sports. This fall, Walt is playing soccer and tball again.  If you ask him, his favorite is whichever one he is playing at the moment. The kid just loves to play outside and throw or kick a ball.

We've seen great improvement in these boys from just a year ago. It's crazy to think back to that very first game in the fall of 2014 when they didn't know which way the goal was and all the kiddos swarmed around the ball.  There's still a bit of that, but the boys are starting to pass to each other, use some defense, and kick a lot of intentional goals!

Here's to another great season, Chaos!

My favorite #8

Walt and his buddy, Austin.  Both sporting some serious soccer hairdos

Even Oscar likes to spectate -- though with a touch of silly

Summer Recap

It's not really a secret that blog upkeep was not my strength this year. There are so many little things we do that I don't think warrant their own blog post, but then I look back at all our summer pics and realize we did some awesome stuff!

Aside from things I've already written about (our Colorado trip), here are some fun snapshots taken throughout a very fun and eventful summer.

We spent a lot of time outdoors. Which often meant in a pool

The boys love our neighborhood pool, but really like Papa Ronni and Papa Chuck's

Chillin' after a good swim

Our second favorite spot was the splash park

Oscar just followed Walt around everywhere

When we couldn't get to the pool or the splash park, we made our own backyard water toys

We went on (really hot) hikes at a nature reserve in Plano

Walt wanted to stop on all the rocks for a picture

We even took walks/bike rides around the neighborhood (Oscar taking the easy way out)

When it was too hot, we stopped for cool treats - like DQ ice cream!

Or Bahama Buck's snocones (which actually didn't go over as well as I had thought)
It was really a fun summer of just doing summer stuff! Pretty much exactly how I remember my summers growing up.  This one was extra fun!

Mother-Son Dance 2015

This is a tradition that I know is short lived, but I sure do love it while it lasts! The city of Frisco hosts an annual Mother-Son Dance (they also do a Daddy-Daughter Dance) in the fall. Last year, the theme was 80s and this year it was "Saturday Night Fever." I'm all about themes, but I was having a hard time finding a leisure suit or my disco jumper.  So, my neighbor, Jenny, and I decided we would just dress nicely this year.  It was fun to make it like a little date.  As with last year, there were moms and sons dressed to the theme and dressed like they were going out -- a good mix.

Like any proper pre-dance ritual, we took pics at the house, then headed to Gloria's for dinner (at 4:30p!)  Then we danced the night away (until 7p) to our favorite songs like Uptown Funk.

Here are some pics from the night.

My handsom-est date!

These two buddies are the cutest!

The nice foursome pic...

...and the silly foursome pic

Our dance floor selfie.  Walt was not happy because the music was loud and he wanted to leave (this was before they played Uptown Funk)

Nothing caps a night better than some gelato!

Britney in Vegas

If it's not clear, I love pop music. I also love Vegas. Two years ago, Britney Spears announced a permanent show at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. At the time, Oscar was so tiny (term used loosely), that it never seemed like a possibility. Fast forward two years later and all the stars aligned. I'm so lucky to have a hubby who not only lets me take these quick girls' trips, but encourages them. Breaking news: he's the best ever!

We started bright and early on Saturday (landed in Vegas at 8:00 a.m.!).  Just in time to powder our noses and head to Lavo (Palazzo) for brunch on the patio overlooking the Strip. Despite the highs still teetering near 100 degrees, the air was so dry, that it was actually cool in the shade. It was perfect.

After a bottom-less mimosa bar, we walked back to Planet Hollywood and shopped for our Britney merch.

We needed a quick disco nap (3 a.m. wake up call needed to be rectified, stat!). Then spent the next two hours getting ready for the show #thingsyoucandowithoutkids.

Need a good elevator shot - when the elevator is a huge pic of Brit

Enjoyed a lovely dinner at Rose.Rabbit.Lie.

At Cosmo by the Chandelier Bar
We ate dinner really early in order to ensure we got back to the Axis Arena at Planet Hollywood in plenty of time. We had enough time to walk alllllll the way down to our amazing seats. We were the 2nd row of seats, right behind the VIP tables and GA. We could see Brit's eyebrows!

So ready for the show!
let the countdown begin!

The show was really incredible. I know Brit gets a lot of grief, especially after her meltdown.  But, here's the deal. Does she sing live? Nope. Did she perform her socks off? Yup! Did we know and singalong to every song? You better believe it! She's such a staple idol of my generation, I felt like it was totally worth it.  Among all four of us, we have hundreds of pics of the actual show. To avoid boring you, I've chosen just a taste.

Her dancers were amazing!

She's flying!

Seriously. Performing 3x a week is doing Britney well!

My favorite pic we have. She's obviously looking right at us.

More dancing!

After the show, we were pretty pooped, but decided to go somewhere for a drink to discuss the show and wind down. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but free bottle service and 3 hours of dancing later - we finally went  to bed.
Poppin' bottles

We were so popular, even random people wanted to hang out with us.

After sleeping in, we grabbed some breakfast and enjoyed a day by the pool in our cabana. Oh, did I mention our cabana was right next to the Chippendale's cabana? No biggie.

Tyson Beckford. Oh hey!

We spent another two hours getting ready for dinner and whatever the night would bring us.

Another pre-dinner elevator pic

Hands-in after dinner. Hoping the party gods would be nice to us

After our dinner at STK
The night was tame compared the previous night. We stayed at the STK bar all night, which led to a quick siting of Drake and a few various other c-listers.

The trip wasn't the entire crew, which always leaves us wanting to go back and bring more people. Two days after we got home, Brit announced she extended her contract for TWO more years -- so, let's start planning!

Bentley Turns a Year Older

Poor Bentley - we have no idea how old this guy is!  When we got him last year, they thought he was a year an a half to two years old.  Based on his playfulness, we decided he was closer to one year. But no one knows.  But, with that in mind, we decided to celebrate his birthday on the day he officially came to be a part of our family (Sept 6).  We had to cheat a little this year because I was going to be out of town.

In the past year, Bentley has proven to be such a loyal companion. He loves the boys so much and let's them run all over him.  He's truly attached to Chris, because, at the time that we got him, Chris was home all the time.  Bentley has become my #1 running buddy, even if he slows me down or stops to poop. All I have to do is lightly jingle the leash, and this buddy come barreling out of Chris's office.  Bentley is nice to other dogs and people and never has accidents in the house. He's not completely perfect. We did overestimate his awesomeness when we went to Gilmer last fall and he ate all our downstairs blinds. All of them.  While it was a MASSIVE disaster, I thank him for giving me plantation shutters :)

To celebrate our furriest family member, I bought him a doggie whoopie pie and we all sang Happy Birthday!

Happy (2nd?) Birthday, Bentley!
