First Easter... but no Easter Bunny!?

Happy Day-After-Easter, ya'll!

Yesterday we celebrated a fantastic Easter... Walt's first to be exact.  But what terrible parents are we that we didn't even attempt an Easter basket for our little bunny?  I finally decided that anything I would have bought Walt, would have been for me anyways. And, I did indulge in a pretty delicious outfit for him. So, maybe I did get him something.  Chris told me yesterday that Walt is not a Barbie.  HA! I said he is until he can say otherwise :)

He looks ready for the golf course already!

Despite the absence of the Easter Bunny, I think we ultimately celebrated what Easter is really about.  We enjoyed a nice visit to church in the morning (first time for Walt in the nursery and not a single issue!), then we headed to the Engle's (my sis and BIL) to dine like kings and queens. I should have taken a picture of the food. It was ridiculous....
  • Beef tenderloin with mushroom demi-glaze (OMG)
  • Scalloped potatoes with a crapload of cheese (i'm not sure this is the true culinary description)
  • Roasted asparagus with garlic and balsamic vinegar (drool)
  • Overnight mexican salad a la Papa Ronni (complete with lots of red onions!)
  • Bread (duh)
  • Wine (duh again)
I made some peanut/chocolate bars that Chris and I "sampled" the night before. They were pretty awesome too!

Now that Walt is getting bigger, his cousins are wanting to play. Every chance they got to hoover around him, they doted and poked at him.  Jaelyn (3 1/2 years old) is ALL about baby Walt. She loved making him smile and wanted to know if he could talk. She also wanted to make sure everyone knew she was bigger than him :)

Here are some more pics from the day:

Super close up of the Munka Man. His hat is backwards, b/c he's that cool

Walt hammed it up big time for Aunt KK. Such a ladies' man!

Not sure what they were discussing, but Walt likes it. Probably his college fund :)
I've got lots more things to write about coming up. I have round 2 of my favorite things (we have a whole new set of favorites after 3 months!), a visit to Gilmer is coming, a night out at the RoughRiders, and more!

Walt is Three Months Old!

When Walt was just a mere few weeks old, I thought it would take FOREVER for him to graduate from the often-termed "Fourth Trimester".  While visiting our newest favorite infant, Reese Z, I was quickly reminded how that time seems so long b/c you're basically awake all the time.  It's not to say that those first few weeks are precious, b/c they are. But, boy has this little monster gotten so cute and fun lately!

Smiling is the thing he does best. He's happy probably 90% of the day.  He loves making silly noises, blowing bubbles, and especially loves when you do them back at him.  He has also become a big fan of singing... even my singing (if you can call it that). So, he's either tone deaf or just really sweet. :)

A couple weeks ago, the little guy found his hands. He is insanely fascinated by them.  He often holds them together like so and whacks himself in the face with them. He's nuts.

This picture cracks me up because his legs look disproportionately long, but he really is a long and lanky kid!  Just in the past few weeks have I noticed him filling outwards instead of his usual upwards. I'm ready to see some chunk on this kiddo!  And up next to his pint-sized friend, Reese, Walt is colossal.

Ok, how funny is this picture? I have no words :)

So, there he is! Our little bundle who's getting bigger by the minute! Can't wait to see what the next month has in store.

Baby Reese Abigail Zicchino is HERE!

I mentioned it was a big week!  One of my BFF's and Grammy Girls, Stori, had her baby this week!  We were laughing earlier about how we were SO close to having overlapping maternity leaves.  So close by TWO days!

Reese Abigail Zicchino made her early appearance on Tuesday evening as a surprise to everyone (especially mom and dad!).  She was 5lbs 9 oz and 19" long.  She's a tiny little thing, but honestly I expected this regardless from the Zicchino clan.  Stori isn't much bigger than a minute and though she was all belly during her pregnancy, I just couldn't envision an 8-pounder coming out of her.  Mom and baby are doing good! Reese is such a little doll. She's totally carrying the Italian genes and is looking quite a bit like her daddy :)

She might be little, but the girl can scream! I got a little glimpse of this the other night. She wants to make sure no one forgets about her :) I can promise that will never happen.

Walt met Reese too, and of course it was love at first sight.  We've already deemed him Reese's body guard, but something tells me (based on her scream) that she will be able to fight for herself just fine.  She was born a fighter! I'm kicking myself that I didn't capture Walt and Reese's first introduction.  I'm sure there will be MANY more photo opps for these two.

In the meantime, here are some pics of this little love muffin

Look at her full head o' hair! Funny how Stori got the full headed brunette, and I got the strawberry blonde??

Richard is such a proud and sweet daddy!

Look at her sweet, folded hands :)

Look at this tiny bundle. Love her!
Congrats, Stori and Richard! We sure love you guys!

Hi-ho! It's off to work I go!

Well, it seems I have survived my first week back at work (almost).  What a week it has been.  Overall the transition is going relatively smoothly. I am not a huge fan of getting up in the 6 o'clock hour in order to be ready before Walt.  I'm also not a fan of getting up that early and still not getting to work until 8:30 or 9. It's like I want to tell everyone I've been up since 6 and should get a medal.   I also do not like the massive amounts of CRAP that I lug with me everywhere.  Packing up my car in the morning is a trip. I even had a co-worker comment that I looked like a pack mule.  The load includes
  1. Walt's bag with bottles (and normally extra clothes b/c he's the spit-up and drool king)
  2. My laptop bag
  3. My lunch bag
  4. My purse
  5. The pump backpack
  6. Most importantly, my travel coffee mug :)
What I have enjoyed this week is what a total champ Walt is!  He is one happy little baby. The day care said he's super friendly and smiles a lot. The only time I saw him cry was the first day I picked him up and he was between naps.  Also, even though I don't like getting up early to get ready, it has felt really good to put makeup on and "dress up".  It makes me feel good :)

When I got to work on Monday, I reviewed my wipeoff board from the day before Walt was born. I created this to keep my co-workers abreast of my activities (not at all knowing I'd not only be gone for the weekend, but for three months....
See what was added at the bottom??  It says "Have baby".  LOL... someone knew that unless it ended up on my task list, that it wasn't happening.  So, thanks for that.

Also, I've sung my praises of the Wellness Room at work. It's the private room I go to pump that is equipped with a mini-fridge and sink. It's nice to not have to lug my breast milk all over the office. Don't know why that oogs me.  I'm sure it would frighten many of my male co-workers.

On my way to the Wellness Room (which is QUITE the hike from my cube), I passed this:

Who knew work was so fun!?!!  I'm curious if people actually use this.

I've got an update coming with the Monkey's 3-month pics, but here's one for now:

hello ladies!!
